A guide to pleasant cohabitation <\/p>\n\n<p>Whether you live in an apartment building or a residential area, noise nuisance remains one of the most common causes of neighbor disputes. Especially during the summer, when we sit outside longer, organize parties, or leave windows open, sounds can become disruptive more quickly. <\/p>\n\n<p>But when is noise still normal? And at what point do we speak of a nuisance? <\/p>\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Do legal quiet hours exist<\/h3>\n\n<p>In Belgium, it is generally accepted that nighttime rest runs between <strong>10:00 PM and 7:00 AM<\/strong>. During this period, residents are expected to be extra considerate of one another. <\/p>\n\n<p>However, this does not mean there must be complete silence from 10:00 PM onwards. Normal living sounds remain perfectly permitted. It is primarily about ensuring you do not cause <strong>abnormal noise nuisance<\/strong>.  <\/p>\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">What is still allowed during quiet hours<\/h3>\n\n<p>Daily life should simply continue in the evenings and at night. Consider, for example: <\/p>\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>talking quietly;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>taking a shower;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>using the toilet;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>watching television at a normal volume;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>a crying baby or a pet barking briefly.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n<p>These sounds are part of normal life and must be accepted to a certain extent in an apartment building.<\/p>\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">What is usually not accepted<\/h3>\n\n<p>Noise becomes problematic when it is excessive or persists for a long time.
