What do the internal rules say?<\/em><br\/>In many apartment buildings, the internal rules state that:<\/p>\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Waste may not be stored in plain sight<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>No odor nuisance may be caused<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Common areas or the facade appearance must not be disturbed<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n<p>A balcony is often part of the visible facade. Visible trash bags can therefore be in violation of the rules. <\/p>\n\n<p><em>2. Odor nuisance and pests<\/em><br\/>Trash bags on a balcony can:<\/p>\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Cause odor nuisance for neighbors<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Attract pests<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Lure insects or birds<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n<p>Even well-sealed bags can quickly cause problems in warm weather.<\/p>\n\n<p><em>3. Risk of pollution<\/em><br\/>In windy conditions, bags can tear or fall over. Waste blowing down not only causes a nuisance but can also be dangerous. <\/p>\n\n<p><em>4. Fire safety<\/em><br\/>Waste on a balcony can pose an additional fire load. In an apartment building, fire safety is a shared responsibility. <\/p>\n\n<p><em>5.
