- At a height of approximately 1 meter
- In a clearly visible location
- Ensure everyone in the house knows where it is located.
5. Not in the hallway of the apartment building
Common hallways and stairwells are escape routes. You are not permitted to place personal belongings there, including fire extinguishers.
In many buildings, communal fire extinguishing equipment is provided.
6. Consider a fire blanket in the kitchen
For small kitchen fires (such as a pan fire), a fire blanket is often safer and more effective than a fire extinguisher.
Hang it in a cupboard or on the wall in the kitchen.
7. Regularly check the condition
Check at least once a year:
- The pressure indicator
- The expiration date
- Whether the seal is intact
An uncertified or empty extinguisher is of no use during a fire.
