How the General Meeting works
What can you expect?
A General Meeting doesn't have to be complicated. The meeting follows a predetermined agenda. Topics are discussed point by point and, when necessary, a vote is held.
Below you can see how a typical General Meeting proceeds.
1. Reception and attendance
At the start, it is recorded which owners are present and who is represented by a proxy.
This is important to determine who is participating in the meeting and to establish the necessary voting ratios.
2. Start of the meeting
The General Meeting is officially opened.
The meeting follows the agenda that was sent to the owners in advance.
3. Discussion of agenda items
The various topics are handled one by one.
The topic is explained, after which owners can ask questions or make comments.
4. Voting
When a decision must be voted on, the vote is organized.
Depending on the subject, a specific majority is required to approve the proposal.
5. Next agenda item
After the discussion and any voting, the meeting proceeds to the next item on the agenda.
In this way, the entire agenda is handled step by step.
6. End of the meeting
When all agenda items have been addressed, the meeting is closed.
The decisions made are recorded in the minutes of the General Meeting.
Good preparation helps
You don't need to know everything by heart. Take some time beforehand to review the agenda and documents.
Do you have a question? Write it down in advance.
Do you want to vote on something? Make sure you understand what it is about.
A good General Meeting actually starts before the meeting begins.
Our tip
Arrive on time, read the agenda in advance, and listen to the explanations from other owners.
A General Meeting exists to make decisions together.
An open and respectful discussion helps everyone reach good decisions.
Your building. Your voice. Your decision.
